The global printing industry will be gathering at drupa 2016, which will be opening its doors from May 31-June 10 at Messe Dusseldorf in Dusseldorf, Germany. There will innovations shown throughout the 19 halls of the Messe; in 2012, more than 300,000 attendees gathered for drupa 2012. Two weeks ago, I discussed some of what printers will be showcasing at drupa in this feature, and there will certainly be more announcements to follow. Leading ink manufacturers will also be on hand with their latest offerings. Siegwerk will be returning to drupa this year in Hall 3, with the company emphasizing its slogan, “We color the future.” The company will also launch its new efforts in the inkjet ink field “We are looking forward to inspiring discussions about new challenges in the market and the expansion of our collaborations,” said Hugo Noordhoek Hegt, president Packaging EMEA at Siegwerk. “ Siegwerk will be showing attendees its new digital ink offerings. The company recently announced that it built a dedicated inkjet laboratory at its Technical Center in Annemasse, France, and it will first concentrate its efforts on the label market. With an eye on the growth of UV LED curing and the increasing interest in low migration inks for food packaging, Siegwerk has been developing UV LED ink technology. During drupa. Siegwerk will highlight Sicura Nutriflex LEDTec, a low migration LED UV flexo ink for food and pharma packages. INX International Ink Co. and its parent company, Sakata INX, will have a sizable stand in Hall 3 at drupa this year. INX will show inks and other products for digital, packaging, commercial and industrial printing. “We are excited to be back at drupa and looking forward to introducing our new technology,” said Rick Clendenning, president and CEO of INX International Ink Co. According to INX, the company will have an emphasis on packaging, with lamination inks for flexible packaging, water-based inks with high color strength for corrugated and inkjet inks. INX will show new UV/EB ink technology for commercial printing, with INX UV LED and HUV/LE inks a particular focus. INX Digital will highlight its portfolio of inks, including aqueous-based, UV curable, solvent-based, hybrids, coatings and primers. Outside of inks, INX will highlight the CGS digital proofing system for flexible packaging and the GTB inspection system, while INX Digital will bring its Direct-to-Object printing solution and JetINX integrated imaging components, software and ink delivery systems. The German Paint and Printing Ink Association (VdL) will be promoting “Link to ink – The combined know how,” a program about packaging safety and general ink composition, at its stand in Hall 3. This will feature 12 lectures on inks, ranging from safety to formulation and sustainability. Siegwerk and Marabu are among the presenters. Both Noordhoek and Clendenning are looking forward to meeting with customers during drupa. “As the world’s leading trade show for graphic and industrial print, drupa is an ideal touch point for exchanging information and ideas with our customers,” said Noordhoek. “It truly is a special time in our industry for all of us to come together,” Clendenning added.
